Kalshi just added four coins to its leveraged crypto bets. Bitcoin is still the usable market.
The approval opened the door. Liquidity, spreads, and funding will decide whether anyone keeps walking through it.

- →Kalshi's U.S.-regulated crypto perpetual futures now span Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and HYPE, per CryptoSlate.
- →The listed coins matter less than the order book, because Bitcoin has the clearest path to real depth.
- →Watch spreads and two-sided quotes through July, especially on HYPE, Solana, and XRP during volatile sessions.
- Perpetual futures → A perpetual future is a leveraged bet on an asset's price that does not have a set end date.
- Funding → Funding is a regular payment between long and short traders that helps keep the contract near the spot price.
- Reference price → A reference price is the outside benchmark a trading venue uses to settle payments and liquidations.
Kalshi now lists five crypto perpetual futures, per CryptoSlate. The board has expanded from Bitcoin into Ethereum, Solana, XRP, and HYPE. The CFTC approved KalshiEX's BTCPERP contract on May 29, 2026.
That makes the legal story less interesting than the trading story. Approval gets a contract listed. It does not create depth, tight spreads, or market makers that stay online when volatility hits.
The numbers already show the split. CryptoSlate reported Kalshi's June 3 examples at 5.9x max leverage for Bitcoin, 4.5x for Ethereum, 2.7x for Solana, 2.8x for XRP, and 2.2x for HYPE. Funding is charged every 8 hours, according to the same report.
Bitcoin starts ahead because its spot market is bigger and its benchmark setup is cleaner. Kalshi uses CF Benchmarks indices for funding and settlement reference pricing. Bitcoin ties to the Bitcoin Real Time Index.
If you trade these products, your real question is not whether the page is live. It is whether the book works when everyone wants the same side. Thin leverage is still leverage when the exit is narrow.
The altcoin contracts now have to prove they are markets, not menu items. Ethereum has the best shot after Bitcoin. Solana and XRP need steady two-sided flow. HYPE has the hardest job because its demand is already tied to Hyperliquid's own crypto-native trading base.
CME's challenge to Kalshi's approval keeps the legal pressure in the background. But the tape now has a cleaner test. The number to watch is not the asset count. It is whether spreads stay usable after the launch attention fades.
For now, this is a Bitcoin product family with altcoin labels attached. That can change. The order book has to say it first.
Kalshi's choice to push HYPE alongside Bitcoin is a liquidity bet before the tape has proved it. HYPE starts with the weakest reported leverage example and the least benchmark trust.
By July 31, watch whether SOL, XRP, and HYPE keep two-sided quotes within 1% during a high-volatility day, or whether Bitcoin takes the flow back.
