- net outflow → A net outflow means more money left the fund group than entered it that day.
Bitcoin ETFs lost $201.9 million on Aug. 28. Farside Investors data shows the outflow ended a nine-session inflow streak worth $3.0442 billion through Aug. 27. Ethereum and Solana products did not follow Bitcoin out.
That split is the story. Per Farside, Ethereum ETFs added $102.1 million on Aug. 28. Solana ETFs added $17.3 million. If you're reading the flows for crypto demand, this was not a full risk exit.
BlackRock also showed the split inside its own products. Farside lists IBIT with $33.4 million of net outflows on Aug. 28. ETHA took in $83.8 million on the same date. The largest manager in the category did not carry Bitcoin flows by itself.
Ethereum ETFs now sit at $12.970 billion of cumulative net inflows, per Farside's Aug. 28 table. Solana ETFs sit at $1.301 billion. Those are smaller pools than Bitcoin, but positive flows on a red Bitcoin day matter.
The clean read is rotation, not panic. Bitcoin funds had a $3 billion run, then gave some back. Ether and Solana products kept receiving cash. The next print decides whether Aug. 28 was a pause after a crowded streak or the start of weaker Bitcoin ETF demand.
BlackRock's IBIT losing money while ETHA gained it shows ETF buyers are choosing coins, not blindly buying the BlackRock wrapper.
By Sept. 4, watch whether Farside shows Bitcoin ETFs with another net outflow while Ethereum ETFs stay positive for at least three sessions.
