Bitcoin funds lost $202M in one day. Ether funds kept taking the cash.
The split is no longer about crypto ETFs as one trade. Buyers are picking the asset, and BlackRock is taking the ETH flow.

- ETF → An ETF is a fund that trades like a stock and gives buyers exposure to an asset.
- net outflow → A net outflow means more money left a fund than entered it over a set period.
Bitcoin ETFs lost about $202 million on August 28. Cointelegraph put the net outflow at $201.8 million. Crypto Briefing called it roughly $202 million. The move ended a nine-trading-day inflow streak.
The split matters because Ether funds did not follow. Crypto Briefing said spot ETH ETFs kept their inflow run alive, with about $1.42 billion added during the streak. It also put BlackRock's ETHA at $1.02 billion of that amount, or roughly 72%.
If you're reading ETF flows as one crypto risk trade, this tape argues against you. Bitcoin funds flipped red for the day. Ether funds kept collecting cash. That is allocation, not a broad retreat.
The source caveat matters here. Crypto Briefing describes the ETH streak as running from August 17 through August 27, while also covering Bitcoin's August 28 reversal. So the August 28 Bitcoin outflow is the clean event. The ETH streak total still needs table confirmation before it carries more weight.
The bigger picture is still uneven. Crypto Briefing says Bitcoin ETFs have pulled in more than $54 billion since inception. It puts Ether ETF cumulative net inflows above $12 billion since launch. Bitcoin remains the larger product set, but ETH had the better tape this week.
BlackRock is the other story. If ETHA took about 72% of the recent ETH ETF inflows, the issuer race is narrowing around one buyer funnel. The next flow table decides whether that was a streak, or the start of a more concentrated ETF market.
BlackRock's ETHA taking most of the reported ETH streak shows rival issuers are failing to turn Ether demand into market share.
By September 4, watch for three straight Bitcoin ETF inflow days and ETHA below 50% of ETH inflows.
