- →SoSoValue showed U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs lost $201.81M on Aug. 28, ending nine trading days of inflows.
- →Crypto Briefing reported the prior streak brought in $3.044B, so Friday's exit looks like a test, not panic.
- →Watch next week's flow data for repeat outflows, because one bad print is noise and three becomes allocation change.
- spot Bitcoin ETF → A fund that trades like a stock and holds Bitcoin directly for investors.
- net outflow → More money left the fund group than entered it during the measured period.
- redemptions → Investors pulled money from a fund and the fund reduced shares or assets to meet that exit.
U.S. Bitcoin ETFs lost $201.81M on Aug. 28. SoSoValue showed the net outflow for the day. It ended a nine-trading-day inflow streak that ran from Aug. 17 through Aug. 27.
The read is simple. This is the first clean test after strong ETF demand. Crypto Briefing reported the prior nine days pulled in $3.044B. One red day does not erase that, but it changes the question.
ARK 21Shares' ARKB led the exits with $114.89M in outflows, per Crypto Briefing. Bitwise's BITB lost $49.69M. BlackRock's IBIT had $33.40M leave. That matters because IBIT has been the cleanest read on ETF demand.
Morgan Stanley's MSBT was the exception. Crypto Briefing reported $9.34M in inflows for Aug. 28. That split keeps the story from becoming a clean selloff read.
If you're reading ETF flows as a Bitcoin demand signal, the next prints matter more than Friday's headline. Crypto Briefing said total spot Bitcoin ETF assets sat near $96.5B on Aug. 28. Holdings were near 1.244M BTC.
The market has seen profit-taking before. The sharper signal is whether investors rotate into Ethereum ETFs while Bitcoin funds keep leaking. Aug. 28 was not a break in the product. It was a break in the streak.
BlackRock's IBIT redemptions made the Aug. 28 print harder to dismiss. The fund has become the cleanest read on whether large buyers still want Bitcoin exposure.
Watch the next five U.S. trading days: two more Bitcoin ETF outflow days above $150M would turn Aug. 28 from profit-taking into rotation evidence.
