Strategy sold 1,690 BTC last week.
The sale brought in $108.6 million between Aug. 3 and Aug. 9, per CoinDesk. Strategy is no longer only a bitcoin buyer with stock attached. It is now selling bitcoin to manage the preferred-share machine around the bitcoin.
The average sale price was $64,262. Strategy used the proceeds to repurchase 1,152,020 STRC preferred shares, according to the report.
The company also raised $653.1 million through MSTR common-stock sales, per the same report. It directed $650 million to its USD reserve. That reserve stood at $4.65 billion as of Aug. 9.
Strategy still held 840,447 BTC as of Aug. 9. Its aggregate purchase cost was $63.36 billion, with an average purchase price of $75,385. The tape matches the story: the bitcoin pile is huge, but the cash stack is now a live part of the model.
If your bag tracks Strategy as a pure bitcoin bet, this is the shift to watch. The company can still own a giant amount of BTC. But every BTC sale makes the structure look less like simple accumulation and more like balance-sheet maintenance.
The number to watch is the reserve. If it keeps growing while BTC holdings keep falling, Strategy's story has officially changed.
Strategy's choice to sell bitcoin to buy STRC was a clear signal that protecting the preferred-share stack now outranks pure accumulation.
By the next weekly 8-K, watch whether Strategy sells more BTC or keeps holdings at 840,447 BTC while adding to the $4.65 billion reserve.
