- →OKX announced 263 tokenized U.S.-listed stocks via Ondo Finance and plans for perpetual futures tied to OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX before any of them go public.
- →Pre-IPO perpetual contracts give retail traders price exposure to private-company valuations that are otherwise inaccessible, which is a structurally new product category for a major centralized exchange.
- →OKX has not published a launch date for the private-company perps, and the tokenized stock product is already blocked in the U.S., EU, UK, and several other large markets.
- perpetual futures → A derivative contract with no expiry date that tracks the price of an asset without requiring you to actually own it.
- tokenized stocks → Digital tokens issued on a blockchain that provide price exposure to a publicly traded company's shares.
OKX says it is adding 263 tokenized U.S.-listed stocks through a partnership with Ondo Finance, five new equity perpetual contract listings, and planned perpetual futures tied to OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX before any of them go public. Per OKX's blog, the private-company contracts will provide price exposure only, not ownership.
That is a notable product set. OKX already runs 27 equity perpetual contracts; adding five more and layering in pre-IPO exposure is the most direct move yet by a major centralized exchange into stock-market territory.
The geography complicates it. OKX says the tokenized stocks via Ondo are blocked in the U.S., EEA, UK, Singapore, Australia, Brazil, Turkey, UAE, and several other jurisdictions. That exclusion list covers the highest-volume retail markets in the world.
OKX did not give a launch date for the OpenAI, Anthropic, or SpaceX perps in its primary announcement.
The number to watch is how many of those jurisdictions OKX can clear before the pre-IPO contracts go live. A product that cannot reach U.S. or European retail is a much smaller bet than the headline suggests.
OKX's pre-IPO perp announcement without a launch date or a jurisdiction list is a headline grab, not a product launch. The exclusion list already cuts the highest-volume retail markets; until OKX names which jurisdictions make the cut, the addressable market is a fraction of what the announcement implies.
OKX publishing a launch date and an expanded jurisdiction list for the OpenAI, Anthropic, or SpaceX perpetual futures, or a competing announcement from Binance or Bybit, before the end of Q2.
