Bitcoin flashed a bullish signal. The $80,000 options pile is the real tripwire.
The chart has turned cleaner, but Deribit traders have crowded around one bigger number.

- →The smoothed MACD signal flipped positive, but BTC still has three levels to clear.
- →Deribit's $80,000 strike has more than $1.21B in open bets, making it the number to watch.

Bitcoin traded near $63,966 on July 10. CoinDesk said BTC was up roughly 10% in July. A long-term smoothed MACD histogram crossed above zero.
The bet is simple. The chart now supports a recovery trade, but $80,000 is where the market gets noisy. The tape matches the story, for now.
This is not a new-highs call. BTC is still roughly half its $126,000 cycle high, based on CoinDesk's levels. If you're holding spot, the signal says recovery phase, not victory lap.
The first test sits close. CoinDesk listed the 50-day simple moving average at $65,434 as of July 10. Above that, the mid-June high sits at $67,292. The bigger line is the 200-day moving average at $71,147.
That last level matters. It stopped the early-May bounce after bitcoin started recovering from February lows near $60,000. Another rejection there would make the green MACD less useful fast.
The options tape is less subtle. CoinDesk cited Deribit data showing more than $1.21B in open bets at the $80,000 strike. That was the largest pile at any strike on the exchange in the report.
That is the number to watch. Big open interest does not mean bitcoin goes there. It means volatility can get louder if price starts moving toward that level.
The catch is distance. BTC first needs to clear $65,434, then $67,292, then $71,147. Until then, the bullish signal is useful, but the crowded bet is still parked above the fight.
Deribit's $80,000 strike matters before bitcoin reaches it, because more than $1.21B in one place can pull attention away from cleaner chart levels.
Before the end of July, watch whether BTC closes above the 200-day moving average at $71,147 and Deribit $80,000 open interest stays above $1B.
