AAVE rose 15.5% to $127.03 on August 22. CoinGecko listed the token at market-cap rank 46, with $758M in 24-hour volume and a $2.0B market cap.
The catalyst is named. Aave deposits are back in focus. AMBCrypto reported that Aave TVL hit $18.05B on August 19. CoinGecko's current Aave page showed $17.685B using DefiLlama data as of August 22.
That gap matters for precision, not the direction. Both numbers say users still have a lot parked in Aave. If you're holding AAVE, the deposit base is the clean part of the story.
The tape is less clean. AMBCrypto reported an open interest-weighted funding rate of 0.0220%, plus $3.4M in 24-hour spot net outflows. Longs were stronger on Binance and OKX, but the broader market ratio still favored sellers, according to the same report.
So the rally is bullish, for now. It has deposits behind it, not just a chart. But the only number that matters next is spot flow. If buyers stop showing up in cash markets, leverage can make the move louder without making it stronger.
Traders chasing AAVE here are paying for deposit growth before spot demand confirms it, and AMBCrypto's $3.4M outflow is why.
By August 29, watch whether CoinGecko keeps AAVE above $127 while DefiLlama-based Aave deposits stay above $17.685B.
