XRP jumped 4.6% today. The real test is borrowed money.
Spot selling looks lighter, but leveraged buyers are now louder. That makes this move cleaner on supply and messier on risk.

- open interest → Open interest is the total value of active bets that traders have not closed yet.
- funding rate → Funding rate is the regular payment between traders betting on price rises and price drops.
- whale inflow → Whale inflow means large holders moved coins onto an exchange, often before selling or trading.
XRP climbed 4.6% on July 21.
CoinDesk data put XRP near $1.13 this morning. The 24-hour range was $1.08 to $1.14. The hourly chart broke above a multi-week triangle pattern. That is the clean part.
The messy part is leverage. AMBCrypto reported 30-day whale inflows to Binance at 947.4 million XRP as of July 21. That was a two-month low, down 34.4% from a late-June peak of 1.445 billion XRP.
Less whale flow to Binance usually means less obvious spot supply waiting to sell. If you're holding XRP, that part helps your bag. But the same report showed open interest rising 3.63% to $828.37 million.
Funding was positive at 0.008681, up 9.17%, according to AMBCrypto. That means long traders are paying to stay in the trade. The tape matches the story, for now: spot pressure is easing while leveraged buyers lean in.
That is not automatically bearish. It just makes the breakout less clean. Cash buying can carry a move. Crowded long positioning can turn fast when the level fails.
The level is named. The $1.24 to $1.28 zone is the daily-chart test, with the descending channel top and major moving averages stacked there. XRP has not fixed the bigger trend until that area breaks on daily closes.
The number to watch is $828.37 million. If open interest keeps rising faster than price, this becomes a leverage story again.
XRP longs on Binance are adding exposure into a thin spot-supply window, and that makes the breakout less clean than the price chart says.
Before August 15, watch whether XRP clears $1.24-$1.28 on daily closes while open interest stays below $900 million.
