Pump.fun's app handled $20.5M in one day. Retail attention never fully left.
The original memecoin factory still has app users tapping through trades, but the next test is whether they come back after the mood cools.

- →DefiLlama showed Pump.fun's mobile app at $20.5M in 24-hour trading volume as of August 30.
- →That complicates the clean story that retail moved away from Pump.fun after newer launchpad fights started.
- →Watch the next month of app volume, because one strong day is attention and repeat flow is habit.
- DEX volume → DEX volume is the dollar value of trades made through crypto apps that match buyers and sellers on-chain.
- Bonding curve → A bonding curve is a token sale setup where the price rises as more people buy.
- Buyback and burn → A buyback and burn means a project buys its token from the market and destroys it to reduce supply.
Pump.fun's app did $20.5 million in one day. DefiLlama showed 808,313 transactions for the mobile app as of August 30. It also showed $268.52 million in 30-day trading volume.
That weakens the easy story. Retail attention has not fully left the original Pump.fun lane. It may be messier, more app-based, and less loud on X. But $20.5 million through a phone app is not a dead room.
DefiLlama says this app volume comes from trades placed through Pump.fun's official mobile app. That includes Pump.fun bonding curves and PumpSwap trades. It is already counted inside the larger Pump.fun and PumpSwap listings, so this is not extra platform volume. It is a cleaner view of mobile behavior.
If you're trading these launches, that distinction matters. A desktop chart can tell you where money went. The app number tells you whether people are still tapping through the loop. That loop is the whole product.
Crypto Briefing reported the app had recently crossed $50 million in daily volume and 905,000 daily transactions. Those numbers sit above the current DefiLlama snapshot checked for this brief. Treat the $50 million figure as a prior spike, not today's baseline.
Pump.fun's token page adds another layer. It listed $420.58 million in annualized revenue and a $1.94 billion PUMP market cap as of August 30. The page says 50% of every dollar earned targets open-market PUMP buys and burns. It also says PUMP does not give holders revenue rights or distributions.
That setup makes app durability more important. If usage fades, the buyback story loses oxygen. If app trades hold above the past 30-day pace, Pump.fun can argue it still owns retail habit. Not the meme. The behavior.
Pump.fun's choice to tie mobile trading to the PUMP buyback story is smart, because app repeat usage is the one metric rivals cannot fake with a launch week spike.
Before September 30, watch whether DefiLlama's Pump.fun mobile app page holds above $250 million in 30-day volume or drops below $150 million.
