Grayscale just listed a Zcash fund in the U.S. Privacy coins are now brokerage-account news.
ZCSH gives investors spot ZEC exposure without making them touch Zcash privacy tools. That is the point, and the limit.

- →Grayscale's Zcash ETF began trading on NYSE Arca on August 25 under the ticker ZCSH.
- →The fund turns an existing trust into brokerage-access ZEC exposure, but custody sits in transparent Coinbase wallets.
- →Watch creations and redemptions through September to see whether this is real demand or launch-day heat.
- spot exposure → Spot exposure means the fund tracks the actual coin price instead of a futures contract.
- shielded pool → A shielded pool is the part of Zcash where transaction details are hidden from public view.
- open interest → Open interest is the total value of active futures bets that have not closed yet.
Grayscale's Zcash ETF began trading on August 25 with roughly 387,000 ZEC. Bankless reported that equals about $313M in assets at launch. The bet is simple: brokerage access can sell ZEC without asking buyers to use Zcash privacy tools.
The filing trail is simple. The 8-K said NYSE Arca trading was expected on or about August 25. The later Form 8-A registered The Zcash ETF shares. ZCSH is framed as the first U.S. exchange-traded product with spot ZEC exposure.
The catch is privacy. Bankless reports the fund holds ZEC in transparent Coinbase custody wallets. Buyers get price exposure through a brokerage account. They don't get direct use of Zcash's shielded transactions.
That matters because Zcash's story is not just supply and demand. Bankless reports roughly 4.4M ZEC, or 26% of supply, sits in the shielded pool. If you're buying ZCSH, your bag tracks the privacy coin without using the privacy layer.
The tape was already loud. AMB Crypto said ZEC recently hit an eight-year high near $867. It traded at $822 in AMB Crypto's August 25 report. The same report put ZEC futures open interest above $1.2B.
So the number to watch is not the headline fee. Bankless reported a 2.50% annual fee. It is whether new shares grow after launch week. Launch attention is easy. Sticky brokerage demand is the harder print.
Grayscale's transparent Coinbase custody choice makes ZCSH easy to sell through brokerage accounts. It also proves the product is price access, not privacy access.
By September 30, watch whether ZCSH's reported shares outstanding rise from launch levels. A flat count would show launch heat without fresh demand.
