Bitcoin funds pulled in $197M. That ends an ugly eight-week run, for now.
One green ETF week helps, but the tape is still too thin to call institutional demand back.

Bitcoin funds pulled in $197M last week. CoinTelegraph reported the net inflow for the week ending July 12. That snapped eight straight weeks of net outflows.
That is the first useful sign, not a clean reversal. CoinTelegraph's own summary said analysts are not calling it a recovery yet. Fair. One week of inflows after two months of exits is a pulse, not a trend.
The holder data lines up, for now. BeInCrypto's summary said long-term Bitcoin holders added 5,912 BTC net over July 11 and July 12. That matters because these wallets had been selling into weakness. If you're holding Bitcoin here, you want old coins to stop hitting the market.
The altcoin signal is less clean. CoinGlass's Altcoin Season Index sat at 58 as of July 13, per BeInCrypto's summary. It peaked at 64 in June. That says the rotation away from Bitcoin has eased, even if Bitcoin dominance is slipping.
The tape matches the story only halfway. ETF buyers came back for one week. Long-term holders bought for two days. Altcoins are still active, but the index is below its June high.
The number to watch is next week's ETF flow. If it stays positive, this becomes a demand story. If it flips back out, last week was just a pause in the exit line.
Calling this a demand recovery after one inflow week is ahead of the tape. Eight consecutive weeks of exits don't reverse on a single data point. The $197M is a signal. Wait for the second print before it becomes a story.
By July 19, watch whether U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs post a second straight weekly net inflow above $100M.
