Bitcoin ETFs lost $64M on Monday. Grayscale is still the whole story.
Strip out Grayscale's old fund and bitcoin ETFs had a positive Monday. The real story is whether altcoin inflows can hold after GBTC's drag fades.

- →US spot bitcoin ETFs posted a $64M net outflow on Monday, per CoinDesk, with Grayscale's GBTC accounting for $124M of the exit.
- →BlackRock's IBIT took in $66M on the same day, which means the outflow is a Grayscale structural problem, not a signal on bitcoin sentiment.
- →Altcoin ETFs gained across the board on Monday, but combined XRP, SOL, and Hyperliquid assets sit around $3B against bitcoin's $83B, so one GBTC redemption day can erase weeks of that progress.
- GBTC → Grayscale's bitcoin fund, one of the oldest products of its kind, which converted to a regular exchange-traded fund but kept higher fees than newer rivals, so money keeps leaving it.
- Spot ETF → A fund traded on a stock exchange that holds the real asset directly, letting investors buy exposure without needing a crypto wallet.
US spot bitcoin ETFs posted a $64M net outflow on Monday, per CoinDesk. GBTC accounted for $124M of that exit.
BlackRock's IBIT took in $66M the same day. Strip GBTC from the data and Monday was a positive session for bitcoin ETF products.
GBTC is Grayscale's legacy product. It converted to a spot ETF but still charges higher fees than newer competitors. Its outflows are structural. Every dollar leaving GBTC is not a dollar leaving bitcoin.
Altcoin ETFs gained across the board on Monday. ETH funds pulled in $22.5M, Hyperliquid's ETF took in $17.2M, and XRP and SOL each added $2.8M. All four assets outperformed bitcoin on the day: HYPE up 11%, XRP up 7%, SOL up 6%.
The size gap still matters. Combined XRP, SOL, and HYPE assets sit around $3B against bitcoin's $83B. One large GBTC redemption can erase weeks of altcoin inflow progress in dollar terms.
If you're watching the rotation thesis, Monday alone doesn't answer it. The question is whether altcoin ETF inflows hold once GBTC's drag fades.
Grayscale's choice to hold GBTC's fee structure while assets move to BlackRock is officially indefensible.
Watch IBIT's weekly inflow against GBTC's weekly outflow through end of June; if IBIT consistently absorbs more than half of GBTC's exits, the consolidation is structural, not a Monday blip.
