Three things are hitting bitcoin ETFs at once. The trade is figuring out which one breaks first.

- →US spot bitcoin ETFs logged $231M in net outflows on June 29, the eighth consecutive day of withdrawals, per SoSoValue data via Crypto Briefing.
- →Three pressures are converging: the yen at a 40-year low against the dollar, Strategy's plan to sell more than $1B in bitcoin, and a broad pullback that pushed bitcoin down 7% on the week.
- →Watch whether Strategy confirms execution of its bitcoin sale before July 15, which would mark the largest corporate bitcoin holder moving from buyer to seller for the first time.
- spot bitcoin ETF → A fund that trades like a stock and holds bitcoin directly, so buyers get bitcoin price exposure without using a crypto wallet.
- net outflows → When more money leaves an ETF than enters it on a given day. The fund is shrinking.
- onchain → Activity recorded directly on a blockchain, such as active addresses and transaction value.
US spot bitcoin ETFs lost $231M on Monday. SoSoValue data cited by Crypto Briefing shows net outflows for an eighth straight day. June is on pace for more than $4B in total outflows, the worst month since launch in January 2024.
The bet here is simple: this is fund selling first, not chain panic. Three pressures are hitting at once. The Japanese yen fell to 162 per dollar, its weakest level since 1986. When the dollar rises this fast, bitcoin usually feels it.
Strategy also disclosed plans to sell more than $1B in bitcoin. That is the first public signal it may reverse Michael Saylor's long refusal to sell.
Ethereum spot ETFs posted $30M in outflows the same day. Bitcoin sat near $59,514 this morning, down 7% on the week. ETH dropped 8.2% to roughly $1,587. DOGE fell 11.9% to $0.072. SOL was the exception, up 2.9% on the week to $74.
Onchain, the picture is subdued rather than panicked. Active addresses sat around 618,000. Daily transaction value was near $4.2B. Both are in the middle of recent ranges.
If you are watching for full capitulation, the chain has not confirmed it. The selling is in the funds, not on the chain itself, for now.
The number to watch: whether Strategy's sale actually executes, and at what price.
BlackRock's missing IBIT-level flow data leaves the market guessing. If IBIT is driving redemptions, the largest issuer is letting rumor set the tape.
If Strategy confirms execution of its $1B-plus bitcoin sale before July 15, watch for bitcoin to test $55,000 as the market reprices what the largest corporate holder's floor actually is.
