Armstrong says Bitcoin bottomed at $60,000. Brandt says a 15% drop is still coming.
The Coinbase CEO and a veteran trader looked at the same bounce this morning and reached opposite conclusions. One of them will be wrong before September.

- →Bitcoin recovered 2.0% to around $65,200-$66,000 this morning, per CoinGecko data cited by u.today, with the move attributed to easing Middle East tensions.
- →Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong called $60,000 the probable floor on X; veteran trader Peter Brandt rejected the bounce as a 'rookie mistake' bull flag and says 15% more downside is likely first.
- →Watch whether Bitcoin holds above $65,000 heading into July: a break lower would validate Brandt's descending channel thesis and put his September-October floor timeline in play.
- ADX → A number between 0 and 100 that chart analysts use to measure how strong a price trend is; Brandt's reading of 28.27 signals that the current downtrend is active and confirmed.
- bull flag → A chart pattern where prices rise briefly before the next move; analysts disagree on whether it signals a real recovery or a temporary bounce before more selling resumes.
Bitcoin sat at $65,200-$66,000 this morning, up 2.0% on the day. CoinGecko data, cited by u.today, ties the move to easing Middle East tensions. No specific event is named.
Brian Armstrong posted alongside the bounce. The Coinbase CEO said on X that $60,000 was probably Bitcoin's bottom, and prices will be much higher by 2030. He attached a four-year Bitcoin cycle chart to make the case.
Peter Brandt read the same bounce and rejected it. In analysis published the same morning, Brandt called the move a 'rookie mistake' bull flag. His case: Bitcoin remains in a descending price channel, with an ADX of 28.27 confirming bearish trend strength, per Brandt.
Brandt's downside scenario puts Bitcoin 15% lower from here before any real cyclical bottom. He doesn't see that bottom before September or October 2026. His absolute worst case is $24,825. His long-term cycle target, if the pattern breaks the other way, is $127,500.
Both men see higher prices eventually. The split is timing. If you're holding Bitcoin here, floor or bounce is the only number that matters today.
Armstrong has a floor. He doesn't have a price that would change his mind. The distinction matters if you bought because he said so.
If Bitcoin breaks back below $60,000 before September, Armstrong's floor call is officially wrong and Brandt's September-October cycle bottom becomes the live target.
