Flare wants XRP holders to put coins to work. The bridge is the real test.
XRPFi is not a price story yet. It is a wrapper story, and the wrapper has to prove it can hold.

- FXRP → FXRP is a token on Flare that represents XRP one-for-one so it can be used in Flare apps.
- EVM DeFi → EVM DeFi means apps built for Ethereum-style smart contracts, including trading, lending, vaults, and staking.
- over-collateralized → Over-collateralized means the system holds more backing than the value of the token it issues.
Flare is trying to make XRP usable in DeFi.
Hugo Philion put a six-month clock on XRPFi through Flare. On July 26, he said that window will be "transformative." He also said activity starts in the next couple of weeks. That is the roadmap claim. The mechanism is FXRP.
Flare's FAssets page describes FXRP as a 1:1 representation of XRP on Flare. The point is simple: move XRP into EVM apps without asking XRP Ledger itself to become an Ethereum-style smart contract chain. At the contract level, this is a wrapper and collateral problem, not a vibes problem.
Flare says more than 155M FXRP has been minted within the first seven months. FlareMetrics showed 150.46M FXRP supply as of July 26, against a 170.00M FXRP minting cap. That puts utilization at 88.5%, according to the dashboard.
Those numbers matter more than the roadmap line. If you're holding XRP, your bag has mostly been passive capital in DeFi terms. FXRP is the attempt to turn that into collateral, trading inventory, and vault liquidity. The catch is that every wrapper has to prove redemptions, collateral rules, and market depth under pressure.
The tradeoff is clear. Flare gets XRP into EVM DeFi without changing XRP's base chain. In return, users accept extra system parts: agents, collateral, minting limits, and Flare-side contract logic. Read the docs, not the price thread. This is infrastructure with failure modes.
The 88.5% utilization figure is the only number that matters for now. A nearly full cap can mean demand is real. It can also mean the system is still small enough that a few large users make it look busy. Both can be true.
The next phase will show whether FXRP becomes working liquidity or stays a capped bridge token with good marketing. If lending markets, vaults, and trading pools form around it, XRPFi becomes a real product surface. If the cap stays tight and integrations lag, the roadmap will look bigger than the system it describes.
Flare's choice to lead XRPFi with FXRP is the right test because passive XRP only becomes useful when the wrapper can survive redemptions, cap pressure, and real app demand.
Before January 26, 2027, watch whether Flare raises the 170.00M FXRP cap and whether FlareMetrics shows supply staying above 80% of that new cap.
